Windseeker Holidays are UK Agents for the camps in Dakhla, Western Sahara and can arrange everything for you including flights. The airline has now announced that it no longer charges for kitesurf kit transportation and with same day flight connections in Casblanca it means no more overnight stops. There never has been a better time to experience Dakhla so get in touch with us now.
Dakhla is situated 1500km away from Casablanca, on the south western tip of the Sahara. It lies on a immense flat water lagoon and is amazingly unique due to its consistent wind. Even during the winter months (December and January) it is still 60% reliable for wind and very few places on the planet has that kind of stat!
Dakhla lagoon is 40k by 13k and protected by the Dakhla peninsula creating the perfect conditions for practising and progressing your kitesurfing whatever your level.
Beginners and improver kitesurfers love Dakhla as the waters are perfectly flat and ideal for getting to grips with the sport. For the more experienced amongst you a day trip to the Atlantic side of the peninsula is a great day out - there are more waves here and surfing spots. The wind blows from the right and in shore the water is flat with a bit of wind blown chop further out, so great for racing and freestyle.
New for 2015 we have arranged same day flight connections for you which makes getting to Dakhla a lot easier than it used to be and more time on the water! You still route via Casablanca before making your connection for the final leg. Once you arrive in Dakhla airport there will be someone waiting there for you at the airport to drive you the short distance to the camp, about 25km away.
Whichever site you are at, the food gets rave reviews. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included along with water at meal times. The only added extra would be additional water and of course après kite beers!
Constant warm winds coupled with shallow flat water make Dakhla one of the best kitesurfing spots in the world. Relatively undeveloped and in the middle of the Sahara desert you have the massive Dakhla lagoon right in front of your accommodation.
Further out there is a little wind-blown chop but as the tide starts to recede. a number of sandbars are revealed creating some of the flattest water conditions possible which attracts the pro’s of the PKRA kitesurfing world tour. These superb conditions aren’t exclusively for the pros of course. These same conditions make Dakhla an excellent destination to learn to kite and advance – from waterstarts to raillies and everything in between, you’ll make great progress!
Check with the instructors to find some fantastic wave spots on the Atlantic Coast which are not to be missed – it’s the perfect adventure for the more experienced kiters and surfers.
We have three great centres located on the edge of this fantastic location, well stocked with North, Cabrinha or RRD kite kit and an enthusiastic team of instructors. Dakhla should certainly be on your kitesurfng 'to do' list! Walk across the sand and you are in knee deep shallows ready to go or head out to the wave spots for a day out when the conditions are right under the watchful eyes of the team, you are in safe hands!
